[dtrace-discuss] Three screencasts of OpenSolaris Technologies
Multimedia screencasts featuring some rather familiar names: Brendan Gregg, Tom Erickson, Ginnie Wray, Bill Rushmore... DTrace for JavaScript Debugging http://frsun.downloads.edgesuite.net/sun/07C00953/ Chime Visualization Tool for DTrace http://frsun.downloads.edgesuite.net/sun/07C00941/ Dual Boot Installation of OpenSolaris on a Laptop http://frsun.downloads.edgesuite.net/sun/07C00892/ +1! Whoops, Loser Alert ... I uttered +1! Sorry. What I meant to say was, I agree with any positive sentiments that these videos might engender. :) Eric P.S. So now the question is, how did such useful stuff like this get released, but in such a hard-to-find way, and w/out any announcements anywhere... Or did I miss something? P.S.S. Followups to opensolaris-discuss please.

If you can give me a few details, I can post an entry to On The Record site. It is owned by Sun PR and we are constantly publishing information to it and then letting the media know about it. It is a great tool. http://blogs.sun.com/ontherecord/ -terri Christine Sterner wrote:> The first two were announced and have links on the home page and > Community/Webcast page > <http://dscpreview.sfbay.sun.com/solaris/community/discussions/webvideo_casts.jsp> > at the Solaris Developer Center. <http://developers.sun.com/solaris> > > -chris > > > > Peter B. [osol-discuss] Re: [dtrace-discuss] Three screencasts of OpenSolaris Technologies
Sorry, I sent the wrong url for the webcast page. Should have been: http://developers.sun.com/solaris/community/discussions/webvideo_casts.jsp * DTrace for JavaScript Debugging <http://frsun.downloads.edgesuite.net/sun/07C00953/index.html> Presented by Brendan Gregg <http://blogs.sun.com/brendan/entry/dtrace_meets_javascript>*, co-author of Solaris Performance and Tools <http://dscpreview.sfbay.sun.com/solaris/articles/solaris_perftools.html> Find out how to debug JavaScript using DTrace. With the popularity of Web 2.0 technologies such as AJAX, there is an increasing need for powerful debugging tools that can examine complex JavaScript software. DTrace can examine JavaScript code execution in realtime, allowing the identification of performance issues and bugs. By using DTrace for JavaScript debugging, all sofware layers in the system can be examined from the same tool, such as the software of the browser and the kernel. For example, DTrace may help you prove that a performance issue is actually a bug in the browser - and not your JavaScript code. *Chime Visualization Tool for DTrace <http://frsun.downloads.edgesuite.net/sun/07C00941/> Presented by Tom Erickson, creator of Chime and the Java DTrace API* See how easy it is to create live graphs of your own DTrace programs, complete with viewable documentation and active drilldown. Tom built and ran this Chime <http://www.opensolaris.org/os/project/dtrace-chime/> demo on his desktop AMD Opteron system running Solaris Nevada build 57 <http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/dtrace> with Java 5 (build 1.5.0_10-b03) using the Java DTrace API <http://www.opensolaris.org/os/project/dtrace-chime/java_dtrace_api>. -chris Terri Molini wrote:> If you can give me a few details, I can post an entry to On The Record > site.
