[dtrace-discuss] Chime Clarification: Buildable on only nv_35 or Runnable?
Would Studio 10, or Studio 11 be preferable to build? This message posted from opensolaris.org

Chime requires the Java DTrace API new in Solaris Nevada build 35, both to build and to run Chime. The API is installed in /usr/share/lib/java. See README.build in the unpacked Chime src.tar for build requirements. You need Apache Ant (http://ant.apache.org/) to build, even though ant is not part of the onbld environment. I don''t know if it matters whether you have Studio 10 or Studio 11. Currently only Java code gets compiled during the build. Tom This message posted from opensolaris.org
Tom, Thanks for your adding several MySQL DTrace probes into the *nice* chime tool for the MySQL Users Conference. We demo it on the Sun''s booth as well as the tech session, and people like it and be impressed! Especially the graph display for each probe is very cool! Is chime tool and the document(including the instructions to add new probe) already public available? This was also the question many people ask in the MySQL UC. :-) Regards, Jenny Tom Erickson wrote On 04/18/06 22:53,:> Chime requires the Java DTrace API new in Solaris Nevada build 35, both to build and to run Chime. Anyone can get the tool and add a new display by creating a file in the display_descriptions directory. Copy and modify any of the existing files and Chime will automatically pick it up. Of course I want to spare anyone pain figuring out what each of the display properties does; a document will alleviate the guesswork. Someday I also plan to have a GUI component to create and edit these files. By the way, it would be nice to have these displays on the project page. Is there a link to get the MySQL probes? Tom
