Not at present: we are working on evangelizing the use of DTrace with Oracle
and other ISVs to use the mechanism for adding providers to user applications.
We are also working on improving these mechanisms. It''s also a great
thing
for you all to do: i.e. beat your ISV''s door down and demand stable
DTrace
probes to let you answer the questions you want to answer in production.
They may not comply, but the more voices we have on this the better.

Yes. We have two APIs for that at present, one is a C API which is available
through OpenSolaris for prototyping, but is still in flux and not Stable or
publicly documented. The other is a Java API which is under development
and we hope to integrate into Solaris Nevada / OpenSolaris in the near future.
So in 2006 there will be ways for ISVs to experiment here as needed, although
if you want an API you can depend on the Java one will be the place to start.
