Any clues are welcome.Yes, there are such plans. Would you mind sending this to the public discussion list (dtrace-discuss at opensolaris.org)? Any clues are welcome.Hi Paul, There are indeed plans, and I''m workin on generating this package at this very moment. The package will install the compiler and linker components of DTrace (note, not the instrumentation parts) which will let you compile USDT providers on Solaris 8 or 9. We''ll send out an announcement to this list when it becomes available. Adam -- Adam Leventhal, Solaris Kernel Development http://blogs.sun.com/ahl

I should have read Paul''s message more carefully before jumping in. Now, I just need to work harder to move all our machines to Solaris10 :P. Thanks for clarifying. -- Just me, Wire ...

What about earlier releases ? (Yup, we still build some products on those ...) Thanks -- Vlad -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Sorry for not following up on this... in 3 years. We investigated, but came to the conclusion that it would be very difficult to maintain given the approach we had pursued. Having a USDT compilation environment on earlier release would certainly be useful, but it has become a lower priority for the DTrace team.
