If so, the quota plugin itself doesn't really do anything. Do you see any errors in Dovecot's log files? If not, see the "Logging" section in wiki.dovecot.org/LDA Your problem is most likely that Dovecot couldn't handle the out-of-quota condition in its index file handling, or something like that.
