GVRP/MVRP is noted as a feature of Crossbow, most recently articulated in the SigComm VISA09 paper: "When VNICs are created with a VLAN tag, Crossbow can use the GVRP [6] or MVRP [5] protocols to automatically register the VLAN tag with the physical switches as well." Can anyone share details on how this works and how its administered? I see no mention of this features outside of announcements and overview papers. How do I turn it on? How do I test it? How do I turn it off? etc. Thanks! benr. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
Ben, This feature is being implemented as part of Phase 2. The idea is that if switch supports MVRP/GVRP, when you create a VNIC with a vlan tag (using ''-v'' option to ''dladm create-vnic''), we will automatically configure that vlan tag on the switch as well. We are talking with our newest community members (Force10) for the implementation details. Let us know if you have comments/suggestions. Great, thanks! In looking at the current prop list, this might possibly be a place to extend the link ''tagmode'' property; maybe not. I''ll keep my eyes open for Phase 2. Please let us know if the team requires testing. benr. Sunay Tripathi wrote:> Ben, > > This feature is being implemented as part of Phase 2.
