[compiz] Uptodate howtos, dependencies, source repos etc.?
Hi.
Given the whole compiz/beryl fork/merge hoolabaloo and various drivers'
development, I find it hard to actually trust any of the information I
find on the web regarding what bits and pieces I need to have to obtain
compiz bling on my desktop. That compiz.org got problems as of right now
also contributes to my motivation for this mail.
1. What source repos do I need to download, build and install to get
funky window animations on a pretty much gnome-free laptop with ATI
r200-class graphics? (Yes, I would very much like to keep it free from
gnome as much as possible, thank you.)
My starting point is:
xorg-server 1.3.0.0
mesa 6.5.3
dbus-1.0.2
libgsf-1.14.3
libcroco-0.6.1
librsvg-2.16.1
gconf-2.18.0.1
...and probably most other dependencies. Are there any recent additions
to the dependency list, or special versions of current dependencies I
should be aware of?
I also have xf86-driver-ati from git. OpenGL programs work as expected.
2. I have attached the output from glxinfo. Do you see any showstoppers?
3. Using the oss driver for r200 graphics, what tweaks do I need in my
xorg.conf?
I currently have:
Option "Composite" "Enable"
in the "Extensions section, and
Option "XAANoOffscreenPixmaps" "true"
in the "Device" section. Are these still required, and are there other
recommended or required tweaks.
4. I use xdm as my display manager. What commands should I put into my
~/.xsession file, and in what order?
