How do I disable the update agent in the upper right corner on centos 5? I am looking for a command line way to do this. I know I can right click on it and select quit. THanks, Jerry

[CentOS] centos 5 GUI disable update agent upper right
? chkconfig ? a command line utility that allows you to turn services on and off for the different runlevels. Non-xinetd services can not be started, stopped, or restarted using this utility. You may nd that these tools are easier to use than the alternatives ? editing the numerous symbolic links located in the directories below /etc/rc.d by hand or editing the xinetd conguration les in /etc/xinetd.d. ? After I right clicked and and selected QUIT on the GUI for the update icon I looked in /etc/init.d and the only thing there that looks pertinant is yum-updatesd However, again after I elected to GUI the GUI icon for updates (so its gone) a ps ax | grep yum still showed the yum-updatesd process running. Is this the same process I a interested in? I was just wanting to confirm before I go shutting off "chkconfig yum-updatesd off" THanks, Jerry -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
