I have yum working with dags and dries, etc, but I have done something to the main repo file that causes yum to error. Can anyone tell me what is wrong with this file? CentOS-Base.repo # # This file uses a new mirrorlist system developed by Lance Davis for CentOS. # The mirror system uses the connecting IP address of the client and the # update status of each mirror to pick mirrors that are updated to and # geographically close to the client. You should use this for CentOS updates # unless you are manually picking other mirrors. # # If the mirrorlist= does not work for you, as a fall back you can try the # remarked out baseurl= line instead. # # [base] name=CentOS-4 - Base #mirrorlist=http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=$releasever&arch=$basearch&repo=os baseurl=http://mirror.centos.org/centos/4/os/i386/ gpgcheck=1 gpgkey=http://mirror.centos.org/centos/RPM-GPG-KEY-centos4 #released updates [update] name=CentOS-4 - Updates #mirrorlist=http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=$releasever&arch=$basearch&repo=updates baseurl=http://mirror.centos.org/centos/4/updates/i386/ gpgcheck=1 gpgkey=http://mirror.centos.org/centos/RPM-GPG-KEY-centos4 #packages used/produced in the build but not released [addons] name=CentOS-4 - Addons #mirrorlist=http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=$releasever&arch=$basearch&repo=addons baseurl=http://mirror.centos.org/centos/4/addons/i386/ gpgcheck=1 gpgkey=http://mirror.centos.org/centos/RPM-GPG-KEY-centos4 #additional packages that may be useful [extras] name=CentOS-4 - Extras #mirrorlist=http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=$releasever&arch=$basearch&repo=extras baseurl=http://mirror.centos.org/centos/4/extras/i386/ gpgcheck=1 gpgkey=http://mirror.centos.org/centos/RPM-GPG-KEY-centos4 #additional packages that extend functionality of existing packages [centosplus] name=CentOS-4 - Plus #mirrorlist=http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=$releasever&arch=$basearch&repo=centosplus baseurl=http://mirror.centos.org/centos/4/centosplus/i386/ gpgcheck=1 enabled=1 gpgkey=http://mirror.centos.org/centos/RPM-GPG-KEY-centos4 #contrib - packages by Centos Users [contrib] name=CentOS-4 - Contrib #mirrorlist=http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=$releasever&arch=$basearch&repo=contrib baseurl=http://mirror.centos.org/centos/4.2/contrib/i386/ gpgcheck=1 enabled=1 gpgkey=http://mirror.centos.org/centos/RPM-GPG-KEY-centos4 By the way, I have just subscribed to this list, and already see that it has it''s share of complainers. I have only used CentOS for a few weeks, but I am enjoying the experience. I tried FC4, but yum would hang each time I tried it, so it has been good to have things work. Good work on this distro! For whatever that is worth from a newbie. TIA ~Lorin

Edit it with another editor? Which editor? Craig
I suggest you try coping the file somewhere else (ie making a backup) and then cutting out everything except for one [..] section from it and seeing which if any of those work/break... Cheers, MaZe. Otherwise not likely. Also, see if you see unexpected whitespace embedded or at the end of something. Lastly, "man -k yum" and man the docs listed there. "man makewhatis" for details. Bill -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
