CentOS - Mar 2005 - RPM naming conventions

Hi,

just out of curiosity is there any policy for rpm naming in CENTOS.
When I look at my folder containing all the CENTOS-4 updates released
so far I see files like:
*RHES4*
*rhes4*
*centos*
and even files without any distribution tag in the name. Isn''t this a
little bit confusing?

If I''m not mistaken. The *centos* stuff is consistently done by the
CentOS
people for packages they own. All the other packages have been tagged
upstream (by Red Hat) and the inconsistency happens there.

You might want to report this to Red Hat. I''ve done this already
several
times, with no impact.

Things I''ve seen in AS4:

	.EL, .EL4, .rhel4, .RHEL4, .2E, .ent, .3rh, 21RH4,

And a big portion without tagging.

There is a policy: http://www.fedora.us/wiki/PackageNamingGuidelines

and I know that some projects (yum) are working to adhere to it.

I can imagine that this would be a real pain for a popular project -
you have to deal with Fedora naming convention and SUSE and...
