CentOS - Mar 2005 - Good news for 3ware 9500 RAID card & Centos3 users

The 3ware 9000 series RAID controllers have been mentioned on this list
in the past so this will probably be good news to the people using those
cards.  Check out this post on the RHEL3 mailing list titled "Red Hat

Very interesting. Wonder if it''s using the previously latest 9.1.5.2
codeset, or the released-last-week 9.2. The new 9.2 is the "mininum
recommended codelevel for customers using BBUs".

definetly ''no FirmWare'' version of the driver.

Genreally driver has changeg very little between released. It has been
mostly been the firmware, which it''s autoflashing during boot, which
have changed on those drivers 3ware releases.

I''ll investigate this further soon enought, but not today as i am busy
with plenty of other task and that involves my 3ware test controller,
so i am not able to try the new bits on that just now.

The 9.2 codeset includes new driver, which autoflashes new firmware, as
well as new 3dm2 and cli tools.

Yes, but the U5-beta kernel does have ''FirmWare free driver''
in it.
I don''t know yet how that driver is related to code on 9.2 codeset is
what i mean.

That''s unfortunate.  I''m using the 9.2 firmware-aware driver
and having
it automatically flash the firmware after a reboot really saves time.

On a related note, the 9.2 release also supports Online Capacity
Expansion and RAID level migration.
