[asterisk-users] OT - Polycom - Which provisioning protocol to choose ?
Hi, Among TFTP, FTP, HTTP and others, which protocol would you select to provision Polycom phones. At the moment, I'm using TFTP but I'm wondering if I should pick something else. The reasons I'm asking are : - with the TFTP server I'm using, you can't upload a file that don't already exists, - I'm reading errors in logs (read: Connection refused) I can't explain. I would say HTTP is the more natural successor to TFTP in this case but would be happy to hear from others. Regards. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I didn't like using TFTP because I didn't want to install yet another server. If you already run one, it may be the best choice. :r

Personally I would use HTTP too. Simple reason: You are much more flexible with it and a in most scnearios you have a webserver running anyway. I build some PHP-Script to provision SNOM VoIP phones for mass deployment and it works like a charm. Regards, Ruben

It's much more flexible than using TFTP and with scripts you can easily generate configs on-the-fly for different phones. Regards, Marius
