SOX will do it if you install its G.729 format library.
As far as converting a group of files, that's what scripting is for, i.e.
for FILE in `find . -type f -name '*.g729'`;
do
NFILE=$(echo $FILE | sed 's/\.g729/\.wav/g')
sox [some args] $FILE ... $NFILE ...
done
