asterisk users - Sep 2008 - What characters can be present in SIP dial string passwords?

When specifying a SIP dial string, like:

SIP/username[:password[:md5secret[:authname[:transport]]]]@host[:port]

Are there limitations as to what characters can be present in the  
password?  Can passwords contain  " @ : / & or , ?
