Hi, I realise this might be an insane noob question, but I'm on a huge brain freeze, and I'm trying to decide this: Is Asterisk a SIP Gateway or SIP proxy? -- thanks, yusuf -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.

This has been discussed to death many times on this list. Please search the archive for more details. Leo
Asterisk can actually act as a Gateway and a SIP Proxy. This is where a lot of confusion comes in. It can do pretty much any voip function you throw at it. Definitely search the archives if you still have questions. try "site:lists.digium.com keyword" in google to search the mail archives.
