[Asterisk-Users] tweak rxgain to prevent premature hangup (and hungup) by fax machine when communicating with rxfax
just spent a half dozen hours trying to find out why rxfax wasnt seeing the fax coming in from our landline via our zaptel card finally found one post about using ztmonitor to turn up rxgain on the zaptel card just wanted to post this here for all of you i have seen struggling with this, but getting no replies in the mailing list; there must have been at least a half dozen posts with zero replies on this issue. and for all you coming down the line in the future, i hope you find this right away. of course, i didnt check all the past archives either all i did was tweak the rxgain up to 15 in the zapata.conf file and restart asterisk. if ztmonitor (not installed in a normal 1.0.9 build, but in the source dir) is running, you can see the gain go up right after asterisk restarts. it looks like the rxgain default is zero; it sure looked that way to me when i first ran ztmonitor; assume with a gain of zero, the fax machine cant hear rxfax's initiation tones, but maybe i have that backwards anyways, once the gain is up, then just send your fax again. they should hear each other at that point any further info needed? please contact me, np pcleddy at yahoo
