asterisk users - Oct 2005 - MWI for other purpose than voicemail?

Hi,

I.e. I want to be able to turn on and off the MWI light independant of any
voicemail function in asterisk.
Is this at all possible?

(We have Polycom IP300 phones, and the MWI light works fine with
voicemail and SendText()).
