asterisk users - Jun 2005 - Unable to open pseudo channel for timing... Sound may be choppy.

1.)
I'm getting messages in my log:
Unable to open pseudo channel for timing...  Sound may be choppy.
Unable to open IAX timing interface: No such file or directory

I'm using kernel 2.6, I don't think I timing, do I?

2.)
I'm losing IAX registration with provider nor IAX protocol will go
through.
Though, I can ping both providers just fine.  
When I reboot the firewall, the registration stays up for several hours
and gets lost again.

What could be the problem?

my name is dominik, and i'm using asterisk with voip without isdn, only sip.
I've the following errors in my logfile:

Unable to open pseudo channel for timing...  Sound may be choppy.
Cannot allow unknown format 'G711a'
Unable to open IAX timing interface: No such file or directory

But i'm not using IAX....
Can anyone help me ?
