Has anyone ever been able to fix this NMI "power" issue that the Dell's have with the TDM cards? Basically locks the machine up when trying to bring up the module. Matt
What specific Dell Servers are you having trouble with, and what specific TDM card? I'm running dell 2650 and the TE410P and haven't had any problems... yet... Really, how long does it take to "recover"? Mine just totally locks. > -----Original Message----- > From: Matt Schulte [mailto:mschulte@netlogic.net]> Really, how long does it take to "recover"? Mine just totally locks. No time at all. The only reason I know an NMI occurs is the front panel light, and the "Dazed and confused, but trying to continue" message from the kernel. I'm using a Dell PowerEdge 800.
We have this issue with every new Dell server out, we've tried different distros even. A poweredge 800 was the last one we tried it on. It just locks hard, don't get it. We're using the TDM400P (Not T1).. -----Original Message----- From: David John Walsh [mailto:davidjohnwalsh@gmail.com] Sent: Monday, May 02, 2005 3:50 PM To: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion Subject: Re: [Asterisk-Users] Newer Dell Servers + TDM card Matt Which server is this an issue with, I am looking to get power edge rack 1850's (the 1U) or 2850's the 2U? and which card are you refering to (I assume its a TE405p) thanks David On 5/2/05, Matt Schulte <mschulte@netlogic.net> wrote:> Really, how long does it take to "recover"? I hadn't bothered with their tech support up to this point, because the impression I'd gotten on this list was that they'd just tell me to go buy a different motherboard.
I just called them and they told me to quit buying dell. I explained the problem in detail (d?j? vu), and still no dice. Is there a bug number I can reference for this? Did this fix the problem? I find this game kind of infuriating. If you have problems, they tell you to buy a different motherboard. But they don't supply a list of "approved" ones that they'll support.> -----Original Message----- > From: Matt Schulte [mailto:mschulte@netlogic.net] > Sent: Thursday, May 05, 2005 12:05 PM > To: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion > Subject: RE: [Asterisk-Users] Newer Dell Servers + TDM card > > > I just called them and they told me to quit buying dell. There is a thread in dev or biz about this too. A guy got referred some motherboards by Digium he can't get easily in Australia. I'll second that the DL380 G2 seems to work, I'll know more in a few months. The common thread seems to be either a serverworks chipset or more specifically, a chipset optimized for PCI bandwidth - two or three separate PCI buses with a bus dedicated to the Digium card. I asked the following to Digium about the new Asterisk Business Edition> > Will there be a recommended hardware platform or reference system?Yes, two servers are being used for the initial certification, a Dell PowerEdge and a HP/Compaq. They recognize people like or are restricted to Dell and HP/Compaq. -Nate -----Original Message----- From: Charlie Watts [mailto:cwatts@mercurypay.com] Sent: Thursday, May 05, 2005 2:25 PM To: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion Subject: RE: [Asterisk-Users] Newer Dell Servers + TDM card David Brodbeck wrote:> I find this game kind of infuriating.
