[Asterisk-Users] Anyone have a GXP-2000 working with Asterisk yet?
i have one of these phones at my office, and its set up and working with *. very easy to set up. i'm quite dissapointed though in the sound quality. people on the other end can hear me with no problems, but my end the quality isn't so great. some static, clicking, etc. also to me the phone looks really cheap, light handset, it definitely shows that they cut costs to put the phone out at a cheap price. -----Original Message----- From: Andre Normandin [mailto:anorman@superdata.com] Sent: Wednesday, April 20, 2005 7:00 AM To: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion Subject: [Asterisk-Users] Anyone have a GXP-2000 working with Asterisk yet? http://www.grandstream.com/y-gxp2000.htm Looks like the phone is $139 from DigitNetworks.. Price looks good.. If anyone has one working with Asterisk, how does it sound/work? Also, does it have caller ID with name? The Budgettones only support plain old callerID number.. Very annoying!! We have had these for a while now and they work great with Asterisk. As Brian said, setup is a breeze. We have not experienced any of the audio issues he describes. They ship with an early (somewhat limited) firmware version so an immediate upgrade is probably in order (set tftp server to 168.075.215.189). Obviously, it may take a few versions to get everything perfect, but it's pretty darn stable for a new product. It has all the call control features you'd expect from a business phone plus it has a backlit display AND built-in Power over Ethernet AND 10/100 switch AND 4 independent registrations AND 7 programmable speed-dial buttons. One strange thing - the headset jack is 3.5mm and it's pretty hard to find headsets with that size jack. We did find some adapters to convert to the usual 2.5mm.
