You may want to see if your provider has other servers you can connect to that have lower ping times or chagne providers. I think 250ms is generally considered the max tolerable delay in voice conversations; you want a ping time substantially less than this. -Andy On 4/14/05, wassim darwish <wassimdarwish@yahoo.com> wrote:> i have asterisk on my system and when making a call a > delay problem in talking appears, that means when i > talk to somebody he will listen me after almost a > second (the ping on my voip provider's IP is 700ms to > 800ms)so i dont know if the problem is in the nternet > connection or another problem ,please help me i dont > know what to do. > > __________________________________ > Do you Yahoo!? > Yahoo! Hello I am looking for A-Z termination please send me your prices off-line. Protocols: SIP, IAX Codecs: G723, G729, GSM Regards Mehdi Chouikh Universal Telecom www.unitelexperts.com Tel: +34 902023154
I guess it is the combination of your connection (ADSL?) and a specific code you choose. Try choosing another codec - thinner - something like gsm. If you use iax - you can set it to allow in iax.conf. The same - for sip, allow the smallest coded (that your soft/hard phones support), or just change yourself codecs, and use less Internet Bandwidth. Does the slow ping happen also when you don't call? If so - than consider changing your ISP - they may have some problem.
