asterisk users - Feb 2005 - Siemens C200 phone - callerid not visible on FXS

I just bought one of these for the office. It has all the features we
wanted including Caller name and number display and SMS capability.
CallerID is correctly shown when the phone is hooked up directly to
the PSTN. The terms look the same in the book (CLIP, CLID).

When Hooked to an FXS in asterisk, no callerID is shown, the phone
acts as if thewe were NO callerID. Other phones, such as an Alcatel
one of much lower quality, attached to the same FXS do show the
callerID.

This is in France, but is anyone in any country using this phone with
asterisk? Anyone have any ideas what I could do?

Have you tested it directly on a PSTN line?
