[Asterisk-Users] RE: Asterisk-Users Digest, Vol 5, Issue 42
Nathan, You really should take at look at the snom 220: http://www.thevoipconnection.com/store/catalog/product_16217_snom_220_VoIP_C onsole_Telephone.html It will play nice with your other ciscos and do exactly what you need. -Mike Michael Crown Managing Partner The VoIP Connection vox: 321.989.6728 ext. 611 fax: 321.989.0284 email:mike@thevoipconnection.com ------------------------------ Message: 10 Date: Sat, 04 Dec 2004 02:47:17 -0500 From: Nathan Alberti <na@nathanalberti.com> Subject: [Asterisk-Users] Asterisk stumbling block To: Asterisk-Users@lists.digium.com Message-ID: <41B16B85.8090508@nathanalberti.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Hi all, I am a way into development and testing of an Asterisk solution for our interoffice communication. We have chosen Cisco 79xx phones which I have configured up and have working happily on my test bench. We were also supplied 2 x 7914 Expansion modules, now from my research, I understand these are not supported by the SIP firmware but it is possible to get them working with the SCCP channel. My major stumbling block is that my manager would like to see the receptionist have a console from which he/she can see the current state of the local extensions (I understand this is available in various bits of software) as he would get if we went with a CM/E solution. So my questions are: 1) Does the SCCS channel support the display of real time extension state information ? 2) Would having the reception phone SCCS (and the rest SIP) solve my problem based on the above being true ? 3) Is there are hardware based solution that will do what I am looking for ? 4) Should I give up and submit to the mighty Cisco beast ? Regards, Nathan Alberti. ------------------------------
