asterisk users - Nov 2004 - prioritising codecs per user?

using sip, how can I prioritise codecs per user?

In your sip.conf file, for each user just make sure you have the higher 
priority codec listed first followed by the lower priority ones.

Before you do that, make sure you do a disallow=all.

this is from CVS HEAD configs/sip.conf.sample, line 51-53

;disallow=all                   ; First disallow all codecs
;allow=ulaw                     ; Allow codecs in order of preference
;allow=ilbc                     ; Note: codec order is respected only 
in [general]

...and AFAICS this is how asterisk works as well
