Okay so here's the deal..I canceled my Vonage account today. And they are going to charge my credit card cancellation a fee if I don't return their device, a Motorola VT-1000. Any way to "re-flash" or use this with asterisk? $39.99 cheap ATA if I am able to use it. Otherwise I'll return it and get my cancellation fee back. -Mark Halverson
I don't know with the Motorola, but from my experience with Cisco ATA-186 and Linksys PAP. the only way to restore it to defaults is knowing a password that is associated to the device's MAC address, and I don't know how they generate them. Also, I doubt you'd get any firmware updates from Motorola if you're not a motorola customer (service provider). E. First off -- congratulations to canceling your Vonage account. Eventually, they'll learn. Secondly, when I cancelled one of my Vonage numbers, they offered to perform a reset on my ATA186 for $15, and after that, it was fully "usable" as a dual FXS on my * box. I opted for that, thinking a $55 ATA isn't all that bad. I had no clue how poorly the Cisco units perform in comparison to my Sipuras, so I sold the ATA186 on ebay for $100 and some change and bought another SPA-2000. Return it, get your fee back (unless you can find a buyer on ebay), and get yourself an SPA-2000 or a PAP2-NA if you can find someone who delivers.> -----Original Message----- > From: Mark Halverson [mailto:mark@opbx.com] > Sent: Wednesday, October 27, 2004 2:39 PM > To: 'Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion' > Subject: [Asterisk-Users] Motorola Vt1000 > > > Okay so here's the deal..I canceled my Vonage account today. > > And they are going to charge my credit card cancellation a > fee if I don't return their device, a Motorola VT-1000. > > Any way to "re-flash" or use this with asterisk? $39.99 cheap > ATA if I am able to use it. > > Otherwise I'll return it and get my cancellation fee back. > > -Mark Halverson > > > _______________________________________________ > Asterisk-Users mailing list > Asterisk-Users@lists.digium.com > http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/aster> isk-users > To > UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: >http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users

I cancelled my Vonage account, and they happily agreed to unlock my Motorola for $15. Said it was done even before I got off the phone. They didn't unlock it. Googling a little, I found another post from someone who had the same problem. Apparently the Motorolas can't be unlocked. Can anyone confirm this?
