Does anyone know what it means when a grandstream flashes the red key light 5 times repeatedly in cycles? I got a new handset delivered to me today, powered up fine until I tried to access it via the web interface using the password admin and then it rebooted with the lcd never displaying again and the red keys flashing 5 times then a break of 3 seconds then repeat. This flashing is an indicator for a damaged firmware in your phone. Maybe an interrupted TFTP-Download when powered up or just a "wrong" firmware. dean collins schrieb:> Does anyone know what it means when a grandstream flashes the red key > light 5 times repeatedly in cycles? Can you (or anyone else out there) tell me how to fix this? Basically what happened was I tried to log into the web interface (ip address allocated by sbs dhcp using mac address) but when I hit login it rebooted and has been doa since then). I checked using MS sbs network monitoring all it seems to be doing is asking for a ARP Rarp request to 67.153.142.69 The other thing is it thinks it is ip address 192.168.1.160 but that isn't even part of my network. Any thoughts on what to do from here? The lcd display is totally non responsive. ________________________________ From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of BetaTeilchen Sent: Wednesday, October 20, 2004 11:06 PM To: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion Subject: Re: [Asterisk-Users] grandstream 102 flashing This flashing is an indicator for a damaged firmware in your phone. Hi Sjaak, Sorry I'm not sure what you mean by this? I cant see the dns via the lcd (lcd display non responsive) and unable to log in via web address of 192.168.0.160 either. Thanks for your help, I've just spent 3 hours trying things and about to give up. Yep, I looked them up before www.ALLEGIANCETELECOM.COM They don't mention anything about ip-centrex on their web page so maybe it was a one off trial that got canned because someone sold about 100 of their GS-102's on ebay 2 weeks ago. It's only sending a arp-rarp request, not a tftp update request, so not sure setting up a tftp server on that address would work. I tried by adding that scope to my sbs2003 network but it doesn't actually do anything (though I'm probably doing it wrong) I'm way out of my depth here technically. Does anyone on this list have 2003 server experience and know how I can intercept it's arp-rarp request? Thanks for taking the time to reply ok. The phone is sending an arp-rarp request to 67.153.142.69 The phone thinks it is ip address 192.168.0.160, I don't know how to set up a single pc to think it is the 67.153.142.69 ip address and wouldn't it need something more than a tftp server at that address? -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of Jim Van Meggelen Sent: Thursday, October 21, 2004 6:58 PM To: 'Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion' Subject: RE: [Asterisk-Users] grandstream 102 flashing So it's alive and trying to do something? That is good. I read a post earlier which someone had created in reply to your original post. They suggested that what you were seeing indicated the phone had come up at factory defaults and was trying to contact a TFTP server. The advice was something along the lines of: 1) figure out what network the phone thinks it's on 2) determine which IP address the phone is trying to connect to 3) match that address in a system of yours that has a TFTP server 4) fire up the TFTP server and ensure the files that the grandstream phone would want are available. What are those files? I don't know - but I would imagine that information would be available from Grandstream, or in the wiki, or such. Bommon line: the fact that your phone is asking for help is a very good thing, so do not give up! Sorry I don't have more for you, but I don't really know anything specific about the Grandstram phone. Off course that makes more sense to me now (lol - I'm a sales guy not a tech so sometimes the obvious evades me). Will head out in the morning for a crossover cable and another nic card and will post back tomorrow with what happens. If you connect the phone to your Windows 2003 server using a crossover cable, and /add/ 67.153.142.69 as an IP address to any NIC (so your machine now has two IP addresses - 192.168.0.x and 67.153.142.69), and then enable Routing and Remote access with one of the default configurations (router is in there somewhere...???), any request that goes via the 2003 machine to the 67.x IP address will be handled by the 2003 machine. Once the phone has a route to that address, it can begin to do its thing. You can grab the latest GS firmware from http://www.hellofone.com/downloads.html. Place that in the root directory of your TFTP server, and reboot the phone. Should be OK from there. If you have another desktop, you can test the resolution by putting it on a 192.168.0.x address and performing a tracert to the 67.x IP address. I hope this is vaguely useful :-) Andrew _______________________________________________ Asterisk-Users mailing list Asterisk-Users@lists.digium.com http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users
