Is it true that every time we make a change in the configuration file we need to restart the asterisk server. This will not be practical in the production environment. Thanks,

You can reload the config files with the 'reload' command in the CLI. Nop, just make a "reload" to load your new configuration and that will not alter the current connections. You should be able to do a reload, not having to restart (and bringing the system down).
