Hello, I am new to all "voice" topic and would really appreciate some help from the list. I am living/working in the UK and need to get a PBX installed at our office. We need to be able to take 20-30 incoming calls for 10 phones and scale without too much pain. So I guess that I should ask the telco to install us a E1 to start (please correct me if I am wrong). The E1 will be used for more than one number (ie: several 0845 - UK local call rate) numbers probably all using the same background number. Now could Asterisk .... - Be configured to allow the phone (ideally IP phone) to display which "real" number is being called (ideally a "name" for that number) ( sales line ringing, support line, etc.) - Cause only phones part of a group to call if the number related to that group rings ( Never liked to take support, sales or accounting call, well really I do not like phones ;-) ) - Provide queuing with nice music/message _different_ per number when on hold. ( your service with us is down but please hold and our sales representative will be able to tell you why we are fantastic) - Let the caller know its position in the queue (ie: "you are number # in the queue, please hold and an operator will hang on you") - Let the person leave a message if he/she is not willing to wait that for the 150 previous call to be answered first. What would be the requirement for such a solution hardware wise ( card to take the E1 mainly, as I guess that a "standard" PC should do the trick ) Thank you Thomas

Anyone know better?> - Let the person leave a message if he/she is not willing to wait that > for the 150 previous call to be answered first.Hmmm.. Again... This is not implemented to my knowledge...
Hello, Thank you very much for your answers, it seems Asterisk can do what I want which is a _great_ news. Now, Could I ask if anyone have a good pointer for the difference/similarities strength/weakness of Asterisk when compared to Gnu/Bayonne which seems another possible solution. I am sure that most of you will tell me that Asterisk is better but I would really like to know why ... Thank you in advance.
