Has anyone tried the Dell 1750 server as an Asterisks server with one of the 4 port Digium cards? I'm just looking for a reference point on this. Thanks. [Asterisk-Users] Dell 1750 server and Asteriks...
Yes, works ok with TE410P and E400P. The server has both slot types. -- Pertti Robert R. Randall wrote:> > Has anyone tried the Dell 1750 server as an Asterisks server with one > of the 4 port Digium cards? > I'm just looking for a reference point on this. Thanks. > > > Robert >
Thanks! Any idea how many ports it can support as a gateway? I was hoping it could support 2 4 port cards. If configured with 2 CPUs and enough ram. It has 2 PCI buses - one for each card. Is this just too many ports for the CPUs to handle the encode/decode task? Be gentle with me, I'm still learning ;-) Robert> -----Original Message----- > From: Pertti Pikkarainen [mailto:ppik@lanwan.fi] > Sent: Wednesday, February 18, 2004 2:23 AM > To: asterisk-users@lists.digium.com > Subject: Re: [Asterisk-Users] Dell 1750 server and Asteriks... > > > Yes, > works ok with TE410P and E400P. > The server has both slot types. > > > -- Pertti > > > Robert R. Thanks. If you use the SCSI raid, please go read dells website regarding linux lockups and other problems when using their raid controller. -- Steven Critchfield <critch@basesys.com>

I'm currently running Red Hat Enteprise Linux 2.1 and 3.0 on a total of eight Dell PowerEdge 1750 servers without any problems. Granted, RHEL 2.1 won't install without a newer MegaRaid driver. All of these servers are using the PERC4 controller (onboard) configured for RAID 1. I have not encountered a single lock-up on these systems nor any RAID-related problems. Perhaps this is an issue that was fixed in a previous firmware update? -- Tony Kava Senior Network Administrator Pottawattamie County, Iowa

I do have a single PowerEdge 1650 with a PERC 3 controller, but I haven't had any problems with it either. It is running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0. Maybe this is why Red Hat back-patches older kernels. Well, I can say that I have been very stable using RHEL, but as usual, your (the original writer's) mileage may vary. -- Tony Kava Senior Network Administrator Pottawattamie County, Iowa
