This is the g.729 codec, but i want the g.723 .... -----Urspr?ngliche Nachricht----- Von: asterisk-users-admin@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-admin@lists.digium.com]Im Auftrag von Gavin Hamill Gesendet: Montag, 3. Licensing info for the G723.1 codec, direct from the holding company that licenses the codec. http://www.dspg.com/technology/LicensePricing.html As you can see they want a LOT of money. This is why I doubt there will ever be G.723.1 codec available for Asterisk. --Eric On Mon, 2003-11-03 at 08:28, Thomas Haeger wrote:> Hi all, > > can somebody tell me where i can get the g.723 codec for * ? > > > Thanks. > > Regards, > > Thomas. > _______________________________________________ > Asterisk-Users mailing list > Asterisk-Users@lists.digium.com > http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users-- Sample configs, scripts, more : http://www.fnords.org/~eric/asterisk/ BTEL Consulting 504-899-1387 or 850-484-4545 or 877-677-9643
Hi Thomas, Unless you have a *very* specific need to use G.723.1 for compatibility with someone else, forget it. It is pretty much an obsolete product. Licencing is also a pain, as there is not patent pool for it. G.729 is expensive to licence, but at least it is relatively strightforward. If you think you will save some bits using G.723.1 instead of G.729, think again. The saving is minute, because of the huge overheads IP imposes. Thanks Steve, there is no special reason for me for using g.723. I will take g.729. It seems to be easier :-) Regards, Thomas. -----Ursprungliche Nachricht----- Von: asterisk-users-admin@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-admin@lists.digium.com]Im Auftrag von Steve Underwood Gesendet: Montag, 3. I have used G723.1 (although unlicensed) with Asterisk. The info is even in the Makefile, just drop in a few files in your source directoy, uncomment something in the Makefile and instant G723.1 support...> -----Original Message----- > From: asterisk-users-admin@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users- > admin@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of Eric Wieling > Sent: Monday, November 03, 2003 10:15 AM > To: asterisk-users@lists.digium.com > Subject: Re: [Asterisk-Users] Where can i get the g.723 codec? > > pamAssassin 2.55 (1.174.2.19-2003-05-19-exp) > > Licensing info for the G723.1 codec, direct from the holding company > that licenses the codec. > > http://www.dspg.com/technology/LicensePricing.html > > As you can see they want a LOT of money. Dan, the software crashes if you exit after hanging up. If exiting without doing anything first, it works OK. -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-admin@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-admin@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of Dan Sent: Tuesday, November 04, 2003 5:25 PM To: asterisk-users@lists.digium.com Subject: Re: [Asterisk-Users] Sofphone Recommendation, was Where can i get the g.723 codec? Same here.

Thanks for the info, but after looking at the Makefile, I am not sure where I can get the source code for G723? Can you provide a hint? TIA -- Best regards, Nguyen mailto:dtkhang@hn.vnn.vn
