You get a return code if you're polling on something like
"check_for_digit". It would be possible to give it a signal
(presumably
"SIGHUP" would seem the most logical, but it would probably be
appropriate
that the script would need to request this behavior since there could be
bad things if hanging up a channel could interrupt a script.
