I''ve just check and, sure, adduser copies such files to the user home directory. useradd would have done so as well, but as I mentioned earlier, I consider this normal behaviour at least for it, given it is not a native Debian utility. I leave to the adduser package maintainers to judge whether adduser should be modified to avoid copying these files or not. Thanks for the quick answer, Adrian.
