Hi All, I am sure there is an obvious answer for this, but I can seem to find it in the docs. I have a very simple data set with two random effects nested in a single fixed effect. I would like to estimate the variance components for the random effects and the p-value for the fixed effect using ML or REML. I usually use the function varcomp in S-plus, but it doesn't exist in R. Moreover I tried to use nlme, but despite staring at the help files for a long time I can't seem to get it working. Can anyone point me in the right direction on this?
