Hi R fans, I was trying to write some code in R when I realized that I was just writing a FORTRAN 77 style program in the R syntax, and hence coming nowhere near tapping the potential of R. I'm wondering what is a good reference that would help me get up to speed in programming in R (i.e., using these classes, methods, objects, accessor functions, and many other things I don't currently understand). Many Kind Thanks, Dennis ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- r-help mailing list -- Read http://www.ci.tuwien.ac.at/~hornik/R/R-FAQ.html Send "info", "help", or "[un]subscribe" (in the "body", not the subject !) I haven't seen the actual book (I don't even know if it's available yet) but the blurb says the book discusses effective programming in S under either S-Plus and R. Looks good! ______________________________________________________________________ Stuart Luppescu -=-=- University of Chicago $(B:MJ8$HCRF`H~$NIc(B -=-=- s-luppescu at uchicago.edu http://www.consortium-chicago.org/people/sl/sl.html ICQ #21172047 AIM: psycho7070 Don't shoot until you're sure you both aren't on the same side.>> Sent on 29-Mar-00 at 16:49:58 with xfmail-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- r-help mailing list -- Read http://www.ci.tuwien.ac.at/~hornik/R/R-FAQ.html Send "info", "help", or "[un]subscribe" (in the "body", not the subject !) Hi, There is a book by Patrick Burns, "S Poetry", available at: http://www.seanet.com/~pburns/Spoetry/ Though poetry is not programming, Ch.8 (C for S Programmers) and Ch.9 (S for S Programmers) may be of interest.
