Lustre announce - Apr 2010 - Announce: Lustre 1.8.3 is available!

Hi all,

Lustre 1.8.3 is available on the Sun Download Center Site.

Our forwarding link has not yet been updated but should be
shortly, so you can either find your way in through:

and look for Lustre 1.8.3 near the bottom of the "L" section.

*PLEASE NOTE:* Some ChangeLog entries were added after
v1_8_3_RC1 was tagged.  The missing entries are included in

Here are some items that may interest you in this release:

* Fix MDS crash when using open-unlinked directories. This
problem was a regression introduced in 1.8.2.

* The lustre client uses current->journal_info to pass
locking information down to lower layers. This can trigger
a kernel oops under memory pressure.

* The 1.8.2 client can sometimes try to reconnect too

For the archive records, the actual kernel update is to 2.6.18-.... , not
2.6.16 . The bugzilla entry is correct.

what is the status of merging the code into the lInux mainline kernel?
or even have the client into the kernel tree?
