R SIG Debian - Aug 2011 - not able to install R version 2.13.1

I am trying to install R version 2.13.1 on Ubuntu. I get the following error
when I type the command sudo apt-get install r-base

I have modified /etc/apt/sources.list as well as run the command  "sudo
apt-get update" prior to running this.

Please help!

R 2.6.2 is suspicious. Are you running a __very__ old version of Ubuntu?
Only the last few releases are supported, in other words the repository
assumes that you are at least somewhat current.
