virt-install is taking around 5 hours to install a paravirt guest (snv_76 on snv_77)
All, Is this expected ? Normal S11_snv_77 installation takes less then an hour. It''s a nice x86 box with enough memory(2G) and solaris iso is available on local network. Thanks, --Navin

If it takes the same amount of time as the bigger/popular Linux distros, Windows, and Mac OS X, then it''s not too bad. Indiana cuts this down quite a bit, but all the postinstall scripts are time consuming, especially for 3rd party "DeveloperTools". If you were to run the second option for installing instead of the new installer, you could remove things like StarOffice and AppServ and cut down the install by 15 min or more. Since we are talking on xen-discuss, it''s obvious that adding functionality twice, especially for desktop applications you have on the host is quite redundant. So remove a few of the larger ones using the older installer. James

It''s a bug. Note if the disks and CPU are thrashing, it shouldn''t peg it too much with the installer, maybe 20% constant. James
