Last night, we released a "work-in-progress snapshot" of the OpenSolaris on Xen project. http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/xen/How-To-07-2006/ With this snapshot, you can can boot a 32-bit or 64-bit Solaris Domain 0 (dom0) and boot multiple Solaris *and* Linux guest OSes (domUs) on the Solaris dom0. You can even Live Migrate a domU from one dom0 to another (i.e. from one machine to another). OK, well kind of.. It''s works most/some of the time depending on your configuration. Still some bugs to fix there. It''s a work-in-progress, there are restrictions to what kind of machine you can run on, and there are bugs. We still have a *lot* of work to do. But it is good enough to play with right now... Just make sure you thoroughly read the Release Notes and Known Issues. This is for experienced Solaris users. You need to know how to use BFU, and not mind if you mess up your box. For more info, check out the Xen OpenSolaris community. http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/xen Thanks, and have fun! Does Xen support suspend/resume for Notebooks? If using BrandZ and Xen - in which order do I have to install these components? regards Bernd This message posted from opensolaris.org

There were some problems with Xen driving the vga on the 3400, but apart from that (!) things worked okay. If you wanted to do a quick test before attempting an installation, XenSource have a ''demo cd'' that you can download from http:// www.xensource.com/xen/downloads/. This should tell you if Xen works generally and, if it does, Solaris on Xen should work (if it doesn''t then we''d like to know).> Does Xen support suspend/resume for Notebooks? No, not when running a Solaris dom0 (not when running a Linux dom0 either I believe).> If using BrandZ and Xen - in which order do I have to install these > components? At the moment this isn''t easy - Brandz and the Solaris-on-Xen implementations are separate branches from the mainline Solaris development train. You could merge the two source trees yourself and build the result, but that would be quite a bit of effort if you are not familiar with the process (and might be quite a bit of effort even if you are). dme.
