Xen devel - Feb 2009 - windows and ''on_crash''

Is there a way to detect that windows has BSoD''d and invoke the
''on_crash'' behaviour instead of the
''on_reboot'' behaviour?

It appears that a BSoD involves writing out the crash dump file (if
possible) and then doing a reboot. If a second crash happens during the
crash dump then the DomU may truly crash and will do whatever
''on_crash''
says to do, but otherwise as far as Xen is concerned, it''s a reboot (eg
"Issued domain 65 reboot")

I want to have ''preserve'' behaviour for
''on_crash'', but not for
''on_reboot''...

I know I can tell Windows not to reboot after a crash dump, which mostly
solves the problem, but it would be nice to control it from the xen
config.

I don''t believe there''s any way of detecting a Windows BSOD
from
outside the guest, no.  However, you may find it useful to investigate
KeRegisterBugCheckCallback(), possibly used in concert with a
hypervisor patch similar to the attached.
