[Xen-devel] using 3.1.2 c/s 15490, xend hangs when attempt to start domain with more memory than available
Using 3.1.2 c/s 15492 on Unisys ES7000 configured with 32 processors and 128 gb memory, I attempted to start a 160 gb domU. The xm create command hangs, as well as any other xm commands that are issued. If I do ctl-c of the hanging xm create command, I am able to terminate it and then xm commands are once again functional. I expected to get an error that there was not enough memory available to start the domain. Xend.log shows: [2007-11-01 12:18:34 22824] DEBUG (XendDomainInfo:84) XendDomainInfo.create([''vm'', [''name'', ''sles10gm-test_32x160gb-dom101''], [''memory'', 163840], [''vcpus'', 32], [''on_xend_start'', ''ignore''], [''on_xend_stop'', ''ignore''], [''image'', [''linux'', [''kernel'', ''/boot/vmlinuz-xen''], [''ramdisk'', ''/boot/initrd-xen''], [''ip'', ''10.0.75.101:1.2.3.4::255.254.0.0::eth0:off''], [''root'', ''/dev/sda2 ro''], [''args'', ''xencons=tty1'']]], [''device'', [''vbd'', [''uname'', ''file:/mnt/xenlsg/xenimages/domu//sles10gm-test1.img''], [''dev'', ''sda''], [''mode'', ''w'']]], [''device'', [''vif'', [''ip'', ''10.0.75.101'']]]]) [2007-11-01 12:18:34 22824] DEBUG (XendDomainInfo:1506) XendDomainInfo.constructDomain [2007-11-01 12:18:34 22824] DEBUG (balloon:116) Balloon: 128164472 KiB free; need 2048; done.
