[Xen-devel] More Problems booting 32-bit Domain 0 on ES7000 x86_64
My name is John Magolan. I an a relatively new player in the Unisys Xen efforts. Here''s the latest problem: I am trying to boot 32-bit Xen on an ES7000 x86_64 box. I am running 32 bit Sles9 on the box. Xen boots, and then Dom0 gets into some kind of strange state in the boot process. I am losing the serial connection at a certain point in the boot process, and I see a lot of messages on the screen about lost interrupts. It initially identifies the CD/DVD drive and then prints an error message : hda :lost interrupt. ide-cd : cmd 0x3 timed out. Then, the scsi driver tries to intialize and I see error messages from mptbase and mptscsih. mptbase : ioc0: WARNING Unexpected Doorbell Active! mptbase : ioc0: ERROR - Wait IOC ready state timout! mptbase : ico0: ERROR - Doorbell int timeout (count=999), IntStatus=8! mptscscih:ioc0: Issue of TaskMgmt failed. I have attached the serial output to the end of this message. Since I am losing the serial connection, I am not able to redirect the messages to the serial consoles and print them out. Has anyone seen similar problems? Are there any ideas on how to debug this? [Xen-devel] RE: More Problems booting 32-bit Domain 0 on ES7000 x86_64
I sent the original of this message before joining the list. That submission is waiting for moderator approval. Since then I have joined, and this is a resend. Apologies if you end up seeing it twice. John Magolan ________________________________ From: Magolan, John F Sent: Monday, August 01, 2005 11:59 AM To: ''xen-devel@lists.xensource.com'' Cc: Subrahmanian, Raj; Puthiyaparambil, Aravindh Subject: More Problems booting 32-bit Domain 0 on ES7000 x86_64 My name is John Magolan. Re: [Xen-devel] More Problems booting 32-bit Domain 0 on ES7000 x86_64

I saw a similar problem when trying to boot 32-bit Xen 3.0 (unstable - latest pull from hg) on an x86-64 box running 32-bit FC3. In my case, Xen booted, and then Dom0 got into some kind of hung state. The last boot message on my screen (I was not using serial console) was "Freeing unused kernel memory: 340K". Any ideas ? The >last boot message on my screen (I was not using serial console) was >"Freeing unused kernel memory: >340K".I found out why I had this problem. Xen could not mount the partitions correctly. After building a proper initrd and using it (adding it to the /boot/grub/grub.conf file for Xen), I have been able to boot Dom0 all the way up to the login prompt. :-) Regards, Khoa _______________________________________________ Xen-devel mailing list Xen-devel@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-devel
