[Xen-devel] VMX status report. Xen: #17193 & Xen0: #472 -- no newissue
Hi all, This is today''s nightly testing report; no new issue today. Here is an update for bug 1177 (http://bugzilla.xensource.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1177), 32e OS can be installed successfully now, but 32PAE OS still can not be installed, stopping at "install exited abnormally--received signal 11". Old issues: =============================================1. 32pae Win2k hvm guest can not boot up on 32pae and 32e host. http://bugzilla.xensource.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1183 2. Hvm windows guest shows abnormal color. http://bugzilla.xensource.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1180 3. Failed to install guest OS on both 32e and PAE host. http://bugzilla.xensource.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1177 4. [Guest Test] SMP VISTA HVM guest might be blue screen when doing large I/O in dom0. http://bugzilla.xensource.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1117 5. HVM domain performance would downgrade, after doing save/restore. http://bugzilla.xensource.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1143 6. XenU guest will hang if booted just after destorying a HVM guest. http://bugzilla.xensource.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1139 7. PV drivers broken again: module xen-vnif.ko inserting failed. Our testing with 17193 indicates that pae HVM guests (using shadow paging) on pae hv fail if attempting to use >4Gig of memory (3840). Is this change on purpose? Or should HVM shadow guests (hap=0 in guest config) be allowed to use up to 8Gig as previously supported. We have only tested on AMD-V, so don''t know about VT boxes. Thanks for any info, tom _______________________________________________ Xen-devel mailing list Xen-devel@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-devel
Should still work with up to 8GB, by design. -- Keir On 13/3/08 15:19, "Woller, Thomas" <thomas.woller@amd.com> wrote:> Our testing with 17193 indicates that pae HVM guests (using shadow > paging) on pae hv fail if attempting to use >4Gig of memory (3840). > Is this change on purpose? RE: [Xen-devel] HVM PAE >4Gig on PAE HV support/failure
> Should still work with up to 8GB, by design.Ok thanks. We''ll look at it then and figure out which c/s is the culprit. We are getting below error in p2m with shadow (64b hv works fine). HVM Pae on pae hv w/ Hap on AMD-V returns the intended error >4Gig - without below error, (and logs xm dmesg properly), so the hap= guest config option seems to be working as intended. ...
