today i''ve created a new domain in xen and i notice this : SCSI subsystem driver Revision: 1.00 kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k scsi_hostadapter, errno = 2 kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k scsi_hostadapter, errno = 2 Initialising Xen virtual ethernet frontend driver. does it mean that xen try to modprobe scsi ? if so why ? We build a ton of crap into the default kernels these days -- xenU has SCSI so that things like iSCSI can work. So if you''re exporting all (iSCSI) disks from dom0 using Xen virtual block devices, SCSI isn''t needed in the XenU domain. But due to this lack of support i have those messages: SCSI subsystem driver Revision: 1.00 kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k scsi_hostadapter, errno = 2 kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k scsi_hostadapter, errno = 2 Initialising Xen virtual ethernet frontend driver. Although the xenU kernel doesn''t strictly need the iscsi stack in this instance I can imagine that it might think that it does. What happens if you export the target as /dev/hda1 ? In any event, the message is harmless, right? You seem to have a line in your modules.conf/modprobe.conf telling the kernel to load the scsi modules. Or are you using an initrd which has scsi configured? In either case this is completely harmless and is standard linux behaviour.
