Hi all, Is there nothing interesting left to do in Xen networking ? Please give me pointers as to what is going on in Xen Networking. Regards, Leena _______________________________________________ Xen-devel mailing list Xen-devel@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-devel

[Xen-community] Re: [Xen-users] Nothing major left to do in Xen Networking ???
I just needed some good long term projects to work on to share some of my code to Xen. But, I am not finding any Xen Networking TODO list nor I am finding any papers with new Ideas to Xen Networking. Can experienced Xen ppl please guide me. Re: [Xen-users] Nothing major left to do in Xen Networking ???
Hi, I''m also interested in network programming and Xen, and in fact I already have a project of my own that I''d like to get people involved in. If you are interested, the project is LiSA - http://lisa.ines.ro and it already features basic xen integration. It''s been no longer than a month since I posted on xen-users and I''ve got very little feedback. It seems to me that xen users are happy with what''s already there in xen networking and are more concerned about testing / running various guest operating, hardware, setups, etc. Cheers, Radu R. RE: [Xen-users] Nothing major left to do in Xen Networking ???
The problem with getting feedback like this may be that Xen networking isn''t perfect, but works well enough that there isn''t a great deal of interest in improving it. Speaking for myself however, I''d be interested in hearing about any efforts to get RSTP working with the Linux bridging driver, LiSA, or any software bridge implementation. We''ve been experimenting with configurations involving Ethernet bonding vs. bridging, and the main disadvantage I see with bridging+STP is the time it takes to discover and react to a topology change.> -----Original Message----- > From: xen-users-bounces@lists.xensource.com [mailto:xen-users- > bounces@lists.xensource.com] On Behalf Of Radu Rendec > Sent: Tuesday, July 28, 2009 12:10 PM > To: Leena M. > Cc: xen-devel; xen-users@lists.xensource.com;xen-community@lists.xensource.com> Subject: Re: [Xen-users] Nothing major left to do in Xen Networking???> > Hi, > > I''m also interested in network programming and Xen, and in fact I > already have a project of my own that I''d like to get people involved > in. However, we are constantly encouraging young students to contribute to the project and at the same time improve their programming skills. This year we have had two academic projects involving RSTP and bonding support for LiSA. I''m sorry to disappoint you, but the projects are not yet complete and/or suitable for production use. Working with students has proven to be a slow and tedious path towards adding more features to the project. Our primary goal however is to make the project known to people and to create a user community. Then it would be easier to find people interested in production use and financing the development of certain features. Last but not least, I kindly thank you for your feedback and promise to keep you updated regarding RSTP support in LiSA.
