What do people on this list use for build noises in the team room? We had a VM running windows running CCtray, but that died, and I thought there really must be something simpler? Ideally it will run on a Mac, as that''s what we have connected to speakers ATM. Equally it would be nice if there was low overhead in changing the noises etc, rather than having to drop into an editor and start hacking files... Ideas? Yeah, osx has a completely equivalent (and sexy) cc client, it is called CCMenu I know it''s pretty easy to change sounds with it but I won''t swear that you don''t have to drop down to an editor to do it On Jan 15, 2009, at 2:00 AM, Matt Wynne <matt at mattwynne.net> wrote:> What do people on this list use for build noises in the team room? > > We had a VM running windows running CCtray, but that died, and I > thought there really must be something simpler? We got a guy on our team that screams. I use CCMenu on my local machine but the version I have only supports growl for notifications. My growl-fu is weak, so my attempts to make CCMenu make any noises (especially different noises for success / fail etc) had stopped there. Do you know any more? :D That guy is me, and my throat is getting sore! Growl offers a few different options that might work. In the Growl pref pane, under Display Options, you can select Speech and have your Growl notifications spoken. Alternatively, under Applications, you can add CCMenu and then click Configure... to set only that app to play sounds for every Growl notification. Not quite the same as CCTray but it''s better than no sound. Hope that helps. - Jason On Thu, Jan 15, 2009 at 10:31 AM, Matt Wynne <matt at mattwynne.net> wrote:> :D > > That guy is me, and my throat is getting sore! > > > On 15 Jan 2009, at 14:04, Tim Walker wrote: > > We got a guy on our team that screams. >> >> T >> >> >> On 1/15/09 3:00 AM, "Matt Wynne" <matt at mattwynne.net> wrote: >> >> > What do people on this list use for build noises in the team room? >> > >> > We had a VM running windows running CCtray, but that died, and I >> > thought there really must be something simpler? Thanks Chad, these are great, but I think you missed the point of the question: What technology do you use to play these at the appropriate moments? Our ccrb is running on a mac hooked up to speakers. We wrote a cruise plugin that calls "afplay nameof.mp3" at the appropriate moments. Ours are: build failed: sound of crowd going "awwww" build fixed: sound of crowd cheering On Fri, Jan 16, 2009 at 12:37 PM, Chad Woolley <thewoolleyman at gmail.com> wrote:> On Fri, Jan 16, 2009 at 1:09 AM, Matt Wynne <matt at mattwynne.net> wrote: >> Thanks Chad, these are great, but I think you missed the point of the >> question: >> >> What technology do you use to play these at the appropriate moments? > > We used cctray or ccmenu. > _______________________________________________ > Cruisecontrolrb-users mailing list > Cruisecontrolrb-users at rubyforge.org > http://rubyforge.org/mailman/listinfo/cruisecontrolrb-users >
