Just upgraded from 1.1.14 (that worked fairly well on some apps) to 1.1.15 on Ubuntu and it just plain won't work. Not even winecfg works. I get this for winecfg: fixme:advapi:RegisterEventSourceW ((null),L"Print"): stub fixme:ds:DsRoleGetPrimaryDomainInformation ((nil), 1, 0x32eff0) stub fixme:advapi:LsaOpenPolicy ((null),0x32ef98,0x00000001,0x32efb4) stub fixme:advapi:LsaClose (0xcafe) stub fixme:profile:CloseProfileUserMapping (), stub! fixme:advapi:ObjectOpenAuditAlarmW stub (L"Spooler",0x4a0168,L"Server",L"\\\\dadbus-linux",0x139e20,0x8c,0x00000001,0x00000001,(nil),0,1,0x75bfb4fc) fixme:advapi:ObjectCloseAuditAlarmW stub (L"Spooler",0x4a0168,0) err:winspool:add_printer_driver Failed adding driver "wineps.drv" ("Windows NT x86"): 1805 fixme:winspool:AddPrinterW Can't create printer L"text-only-printer" err:winspool:CUPS_LoadPrinters printer 'text-only-printer' not added by AddPrinterA (error 1801) err:ole:CoGetClassObject class {a9e69610-b80d-11d0-b9b9-00a0c922e750} not registered err:ole:CoGetClassObject class {a9e69610-b80d-11d0-b9b9-00a0c922e750} not registered err:ole:create_server class {a9e69610-b80d-11d0-b9b9-00a0c922e750} not registered fixme:ole:CoGetClassObject CLSCTX_REMOTE_SERVER not supported err:ole:CoGetClassObject no class object {a9e69610-b80d-11d0-b9b9-00a0c922e750} could be created for context 0x17 I have uninstalled and reinstalled it but to no avail. Move or delete the .wine folder in your home directory. Jim Dandy wrote:> Just upgraded from 1.1.14 (that worked fairly well on some apps) to 1.1.15 on Ubuntu and it just plain won't work. Okay, so I deleted .wine and then installed 1.1.15 and it worked like a bought one. Great. Installed 2 favourite apps. Still good. Then I installed Google Earth and that wouldn't run and neither would the other 2 apps. Deleted and reinstalled the other 2 and still won't run. Linux in general and Wine in particular is such a major, major, MAJOR load of crap so very often. This is now my tenth year of stuffing around with it.
When I installed Google Earth it broke something and now with everything totally removed including .wine and reinstall wine that someting is still broken. I think I'll just give it a miss for a year or two. It's just not fun anymore.
