Howdy, I sent an e-mail to Sean McGrath last week to ask if it was possible to specify multiple pids/execnames when using the pid provider. Sean sent me an awesome link (thanks Sean!!!) to a thread on this topic, but the solution is less than ideal. Would it be possible to add multiple pids/execname support to the pid provider (I checked the bug database and was unable to locate an RFE for multiple pid/execname support)? I would love to be able to do something similar to the following: pid*httpd*::ap*: { ... } Thanks for any insight/suggestions, - Ryan -- UNIX Administrator http://daemons.net/~matty

[dtrace-discuss] PID Provider -- multipe pids/execnames
Hi Ryan, It''s something we''re currently working towards, but there''s no way to do it currently. For your specific problem, you''ll be able to do something like this: dtrace -n ''pid$target::ap*:'' -p `pgrep httpd -d,` That''s a bit of a guess; the details might be slightly different once we have it completely implemented.
