I am looking for pointers to troubleshoot hangs and crash 
snapshots(obtaining a system snapshot during crash) using Dtrace.

Hi,
You might want to read the chapter on postmortem tracing
at http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-6223/6mlkidlng?q=mdb&a=view

Basically, you start dtrace before the crash/hang and
use mdb to examine the dtrace data.
