[crossbow-discuss] Wikipedia article: OpenSolaris Network Virtualization and Resource Control
I''ve just posted the final of this article on Wikipedia. Here''s the URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_Solaris_Network_Virtualization_and_Research_Control Nicolas Droux suggested I post the article directly to Wikipedia rather than wait much longer for comments and additional materials. So here is the new web page. In regular Wikipedia fashion, you can directly edit the page. Or you can send me comments and additions, which I can add to the page. - Steff This message posted from opensolaris.org

I took a quick look. I think, Title need to be Resource Control instead of Research control? -Deepti ----- Original Message ----- From: Stephanie Brucker <Stephanie.Brucker at Sun.COM> Date: Monday, November 12, 2007 5:03 pm Subject: [crossbow-discuss] Wikipedia article: OpenSolaris Network Virtualization and Resource Control To: crossbow-discuss at opensolaris.org> I''ve just posted the final of this article on Wikipedia. Latest update on the Wikipedia article title change. This is a non-trivial fix. No kidding. There is no Media Wiki tag for the headline at the beginning of the article source text. Instead, you create the title through one of the Wikipedia templates. To change the title, you actually have to move the page. Not a big deal, however...you have to wait four days after you create the page before you can move it to fix a title. Ugh. So sorry folks, if you want to read my article, it is still "OpenSolaris Network Virtualization and Research Control" and unfortunately must remain so until I come back from vacation. (When I leave for vacation, only three days would have passed since posting the article.) I just hope that "Research Control" was something I typed, not a correction by a Wikipedia editor. That has happened to people, evidentally. - Steff This message posted from opensolaris.org

Stephanie, I hope you don''t mind, but I took the liberty to rename the page. (I changed "Open Solaris" to "OpenSolaris", in addition I changed "Research" to "Resource") New Link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenSolaris_Network_Virtualization_and_Resource_Control -Brian P.S. - Please note the old link is now a redirect to the new link. Hi Brian - I don''t mind in the least. But I have a question for you. Wikipedia''s Help Desk says that to change the title of an article, you need to move it. And they further say, wait four days after article creation to move the article with its new (or fixed) name. So I was waiting. Did you do anything other than moving the article to the correct name? If so, tell me so I know what to do if this happens again. If not, well, if you don''t tell Wikipedia that less than four days has elapsed, well I won''t either :). - Steff Brian Gupta wrote:> Stephanie, > > I hope you don''t mind, but I took the liberty to rename the page. All I did was move it. (You need to be logged in to do it.) On Nov 13, 2007 5:59 PM, <Stephanie.Brucker at sun.com> wrote:> Hi Brian - > > I don''t mind in the least. But I have a question for you. FYI, I got the following messages from Wikipedia. I am sharing it because I find it fascinating to see the process. It is surprisingly efficient. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- A tag has been placed on Open Solaris Network Virtualization and Research Control, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from an implausible typo. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article''s talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. (Hi -- this is just a housekeeping process to remove the redirect that was left when you renamed the article to its appropriate untypo''ed name. I doubt that removing it will be considered controversial...)--NapoliRoma 20:10, 14 November 2007 (UTC) -Brian P.S. - Don''t worry they aren''t deleting the article.
