[R-jobs] MAPME Initiative - Two collaboration opportunities as geospatial consultant in the context of agriculture, climate change and conflicts.
Dear R-Enthusiasts, Our mission is to provide data support for development cooperation projects during the preparation, monitoring, and evaluation phases. Our primary focus areas include open-data and geospatial analysis in agriculture, conservation, and conflict contexts. We do so by using open data in a general with a focus on geospatial data (i.e preprocessed data products, satellite images etc.). For more details see here: https://mapme-initiative.org/ <https://mapme-initiative.org/> We use geospatial modelling techniques, remote sensing methods and different methods to visualize the data (Rmarkdowns, Shiny Dashboards, etc.). We work as a community with others on Github. You should be a geospatial expert proficient in R. Packages like SF, Terra, Raster, SP and the general Tidyverse should be a no-brainer for you. We have two opportunities to work as a long-term consultants. Johannes, How fast would someone be able to learn these geospatial R packages? I've been coding in R for more than ten years in the financial space, and am interested in applying my skills to help the fight on climate change, but am unfamiliar with these packages *currently*. Would you happen to have some resources I can look at, and perhaps a case study I could perform to convince you of my skill set?
